NEWPORT, R.I. (March 6, 2007) - BankNewport President and CEO, Thomas W. Kelly recently announced the appointment of Diane E. Sendley to vice president, director of compliance management. She will be responsible for all aspects of compliance and operational security, including legal and regulatory compliance, legislative affairs, and policy development for the Bank. Sendley began her career with BankNewport in 1999, and has held various positions, most recently serving as vice president, compliance officer.

Sendley is a graduate of the American Bankers Association Graduate School of Compliance. She is a member of the Rhode Island Bankers Association Legislative Committee, the Massachusetts Bankers Association Legal and Regulatory Compliance Committee, the Eastern Massachusetts Compliance Network, and the American Bankers Insurance Association, where she currently serves on the Compliance Best Practices Panel. Diane and her husband, John, have two grown children and make their home in Burrillville, Rhode Island.

Debbie L. McFarland has been appointed vice president, compliance officer. She will be responsible for examining and evaluating the Bank's compliance management system, transaction testing, guidance of banking laws and regulations, and overall operation of the Bank's ATM machines and functions. McFarland began her career with BankNewport in 1973 and has held various positions, most recently serving as vice president, deposit operations.

McFarland is a graduate of the Center for Financial Studies, Bank Management School in Fairfield, Connecticut. She is a member of the New England Automated Clearing House Association and the Elan Financial Northeast User Group. Debbie resides in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

Denise D. Tansey has been appointed vice president and security manager. She will be responsible for the physical security of all BankNewport facilities, the investigation of possible fraudulent activity, and the communication of fraud trends to employees and customers of the Bank. Tansey began her career with BankNewport in 2004, most recently serving as assistant vice president and security officer.

Tansey earned an Associates Degree in business administration from Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts. She has received security certifications from Mass-Fit and from the Credit Union National Association Security Institute. Tansey is treasurer of the Rhode Island Fraud Investigators Association, is a member of the Association for Certified Fraud Examiners, and is a member of the Greater Fall River Community Food Pantry, where she currently serves as Treasurer. Denise has two grown children and makes her home in Fall River, Massachusetts.
