BankNewport "Bowls Them Over" with Cash

NEWPORT, R.I. (April 10, 2008) – Forty BankNewport employees recently laced up their bowling shoes to benefit the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) of Newport and Bristol Counties. BankNewport “Bowl-A-Thon” Coordinators, Daniel M. Silverman, vice president/mortgage loan originator, and Joan M. Lemieux, residential lending processor, presented a check in the amount of $1,825.70 to Lori N. DiPersio, WRC executive director, representing the proceeds raised at this year’s event held at Old Mountain Lanes in Wakefield, Rhode Island. BankNewport’s employee “Bowl-A-Thon” is held annually to benefit a local non-profit organization.

The Women’s Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties was incorporated in 1977 by a group of local women who recognized the need to provide a place for victims of domestic violence to learn, to grow and to make educational and vocational choices. WRC empowers victims of domestic violence and their children through individual and social change. Education, support and advocacy programs are offered to assist victims to gain control of their lives, exercising their right to live without fear in their own homes.
