BankNewport Names Carmen Diaz-Jusino Vice President, Community Development Officer
NEWPORT, R.I. (June 8, 2020) – BankNewport is pleased to announce that Carmen Diaz-Jusino has been named Vice President, Community Development Officer. In her new position, Carmen will be responsible for developing, implementing and administering many strategic aspects of the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act Program, through banking relationships with community-based, charitable, and non-profit organizations. She will also be responsible for establishing opportunities to meet the lending needs for low and moderate-income communities, businesses and customers.

Most recently, Carmen was the Strategic Initiative Officer- Economic Security at the Rhode Island Foundation, responsible for leading the Foundation’s activities and grant making for economic security. Prior to that, Carmen served in numerous roles over 12 years at the Center for Women & Enterprise, most recently as Vice President of Programs and Community Development.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Carmen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Universidad del Caribe, an Associate of Arts in Social Studies from the Community College of Rhode Island, and a Master of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College.
Carmen is a past Chair of the Board of the Economic Progress Institute, the Rhode Island Latino Civic Fund, and the Commission for the Minority Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) for the City of Providence. She also served as a Commissioner for the Rhode Island Commission on Women, and served on the board of the Women’s Fund of Rhode Island, Rhode Island State Council of the Arts, South Eastern Economic Development (SEED) Corporation, United Way of Rhode Island, , and the National Association of Women Business Centers.
Carmen currently resides in Providence with her husband Luis. They have two adult children.
