BankNewport is committed to creating a positive impact and economic opportunities for all through our philanthropic initiatives, financial support, employee volunteerism, and leadership.

We are proud to share that our 2024 All In Giving efforts have resulted in $1.6 million being awarded through charitable grants, contributions, community event sponsorships and donations through our local Bank branches to organizations throughout Rhode Island, impacting basic human needs, children and families, education, economic security, healthy lives, arts and culture and the environment.

Contributions Grants

Please review the instructions below to ensure eligibility. Be prepared to complete the application and upload the requirement documents in one session, as you will not be able to save in-progress applications. 

BankNewport does not ordinarily contribute to:

• General operating support, including salaries and stipends
• National organizations, including state and local chapters
• Individuals or families seeking scholarship or tuition assistance
• Memorial events
• Religious, fraternal or political organizations
• Trips, tours, transportation costs, seminars and conferences
• Third parties raising funds for a charity (“Pass through” fundraisers)
• Annual Fund Drives or Campaigns
• Playground projects

Note: That a contribution or a grant submission does not guarantee that the request will be funded.


CONTRIBUTIONS: Requests up to $5,000

Contributions are donations and support extended to non-profit organizations. Unlike grants, contributions may be smaller in scale and are typically intended to assist with specific activities, such as annual fundraisers, community concerts and festivals, youth programming, etc.

BankNewport Contribution requests are reviewed on a quarterly basis. Applications must be submitted in accordance with the following timeframes for consideration:

Contribution requests must be received at least 60 days before the event/program. Only one Contribution request will be considered per year.

GRANTS: Requests $5,000 and over

The BankNewport Charitable Foundation was established in 2023 as an extension of BankNewport’s commitment to the Rhode Island communities the bank and its employees have served since 1819.  Through our Foundation we support the work of 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations focused on basic human needs, education success arts and culture, and healthy lives, thriving communities.

Foundation grants will be considered for projects and programs, including those with a special focus on human services and community development initiatives that serve low to moderate income individuals and communities.

Grant proposals are reviewed by the Foundation Board twice per year, in March and in September. Applications must be submitted in accordance with the following timeframes for consideration:

The BankNewport Charitable Foundation does not make multi-year commitments, and support in one year does not imply continued support in future years. If an organization has recently received a significant grant from the Foundation, in the Foundation's reasonable discretion, they may be asked to wait a period of time before submitting a new grant proposal to the Foundation. Grant requests for individuals or for general operating support, including salaries and stipends, will not be considered.
