BankNewport Welcomes Jim Cohill as Senior Vice President, Director of Commercial Banking

NEWPORT, RI (June 12, 2025) – BankNewport is pleased to announce that Jim Cohill has joined the organization as senior vice president, director of commercial banking. In this role, he will lead the Bank’s commercial banking team and oversee the delivery of customized financial solutions to business clients throughout Rhode Island and beyond.

Cohill brings more than two decades of commercial banking experience to BankNewport, most recently serving in a senior leadership role at Citizens Bank based out of Johnston, Rhode Island. His prior experience includes roles with Commerce Bank and Bank of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he worked closely with the small business community.

An active member of the Rhode Island community, Cohill currently serves on the board of Social Enterprise Greenhouse in Providence as well as the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteers time in East Greenwich, actively serving on the board of the East Greenwich Basketball Association and East Greenwich Little League. He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Originally from Philadelphia, Cohill resides in East Greenwich, Rhode Island with his wife Ann Marie and their son Jimmy.
