Annual Report  |  2025

A Message from our President

Jack Murphy

As we reflect on 2025, we are reminded that flexibility, focus, and relationships remain essential. We remain committed to helping customers and businesses adapt, make informed decisions, and plan confidently for the future. Our mission remains clear: to serve responsibly and support long-term success across the communities we call home.

Over the past year, we continued to invest thoughtfully across our operations, digital capabilities, and risk management infrastructure, always guided by the needs of our customers. This disciplined, customer-first approach strengthens our ability to deliver service while positioning the Bank for sustainable growth. By staying true to our values and long-term strategy, we reached $3 billion in assets while maintaining our focus on customers, colleagues and community.

Supporting small businesses remains central to who we are. In 2025, we were once again recognized as Rhode Island’s #1 SBA lender in multiple categories, reflecting our continued commitment to entrepreneurs across the state. Beyond lending, initiatives like SHOP401™ reinforce our belief in the power of shopping local and investing in community-based businesses.

Community impact remains at the heart of BankNewport. Over the past year, our colleagues contributed more than 10,000 service hours, extended $1.75 million in charitable giving, and supported more than 500 organizations through volunteerism, funding, and financial education. As we enter 2026, we remain fully committed to elevating our customers, our colleagues, our communities, and Rhode Island’s future.

SHOP401™: Powering Local Business

SHOP401™ was created by BankNewport to encourage Rhode Islander's to support small businesses in our communities, as part of our mission to be a partner in the success of local businesses. Digital Account Opening with
Your Anytime, Anywhere Bank™

Digital Account Opening is a seamless online solution that empowers businesses and consumers to open deposit accounts with ease anytime, anywhere. To promote opening accounts online, a campaign called “Your anytime, anywhere bank.™” was launched. The campaign showcases how customers can open and fund accounts entirely online; whether from their office, home, or on the go, from any device.

In 2025, the commercial "Late to the Game" continued to support our message. The commercial included accompanying video, digital and traditional ads and has made a strong impact on account openings.

Bristol: A Fresh In-Branch Experience

To provide a better banking experience for our customers, we completed a renovation of our Bristol branch in 2025. The new design created a welcoming, efficient environment for customers, allowing for a better overall banking experience. The evolution of the space also provided our team with a workspace designed to support collaboration and service excellence. This investment underscores our long‑term dedication to strengthening our branches as trusted community hubs where relationships continue to grow.

We feel a deep sense of responsibility to foster a strong workplace culture for our incredible employees, and are humbled to have been recognized for our efforts in 2025. BankNewport again achieved national recognition as one of the “Best Banks to Work For” by the industry publication American Banker and received both a Healthiest Employer of Rhode Island award and an Exemplary Worksite Health Award for the Vitality Wellness Program.

We also marked the 10th anniversary of our paid internship program, which has hosted more than 95 interns since 2015. The program continues to serve as a key talent development pathway for Rhode Island students seeking hands-on workplace experience, mentorship, and community engagement opportunities through BankNewport and our nonprofit partners.
