200 Years of BankNewport

Check out a few of the ways our donations are impacting lives!

The $1,000 grant received by the agency is being used to purchase new equipment for our growing free weekly Yoga program. New Yoga balls, mats, carrying bags, and weights are now all available for use by the participants.

- INSIGHT

The grant was used to support dental visits for our young patients who are uninsured or underinsured.

With the generous support of BankNewport, we will continue to make a difference in our community through the installation of hydration stations in our schools, parks, and recreational facilities, free of charge.

Sometimes the best part of going to the movies is the popcorn! Popcorn Nights are when we team up with theaters around Rhode Island to hand out free popcorn to theatergoers so they can enjoy their movies just a little bit more.

It’s difficult to make Fridays better but free lunch helps! For Free Lunch Fridays, one of our branches partner with a local restaurant to provide a free sandwich, salad and drinks for all branch customers who visit that day.

Everyone loves their daily coffee or tea in the morning; it gets us moving to work, school or anywhere we need to go. For Coffee on Us, a BankNewport employee goes to a local coffee shop and prepays for the next few hours of customers’ drinks. That way, people in our communities can enjoy their daily routine a little easier.

Winters in New England do have their advantages… like a day at the local ice rink. Over the winter, BankNewport threw a few Free Skate Days all over Rhode Island where visitors could skate for free!

Bus riders are used to the routine: wait for their bus, board, pay their fare, and then arrive at their destination. This year, BankNewport partnered with the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority to spice up their daily commute by providing free bus rides in Providence. BankNewport Day is a fun way to make commuting just a little bit easier for everyone.

We couldn’t have done it without you!

BankNewport teamed up with the United Way to make fleece blankets and give away teddy bears to veterans and their families this holiday season. This was our heartfelt way of saying thank you to veterans who have served our nation.

Over the last year, we have been helping families to affordably see musicals such as Charlie and Chocolate Factory, School of Rock, and Anastasia at the Providence Performing Arts Center. BankNewport’s Family Night features a Buy One, Get One promotion to allow all families the opportunity to visit the theater.

BankNewport teamed up with Garden City Center to present free summer concerts at The Gazebo. When nearly 2,000 people showed up for our first concert on July 11th, we knew we had a hit on our hands! Thank you to all the bands, the city of Cranston and all the concertgoers, many of whom participated in our food drive, for a great summer of music!

The Pawtucket Red Sox are a Rhode Island institution and we’re proud to support them. We love bringing guests to enjoy a game. For this year’s BankNewport’s PawSox Day, our guests were  the community groups ARISE, Princes2Kings, ONE Neighborhood Builders, and West Elmwood Housing. We all enjoyed a full-day of fun with a pre-game barbecue, the ball game, and a free BankNewport 200th anniversary baseball cap.

We’re proud to support a long-running Newport tradition by supporting the Weekend of Coaching. Every year the Preservation Society of Newport County has beautiful, majestic horses pull historic and authentic coaches throughout the mansions of Newport. It truly is something you have to experience at least once!

BankNewport helped Barrington Beach and Latham Park rock out this past summer by sponsoring the Barrington Summer Concert Series. With tunes from Triad, The New 40, Becky Chace Band, Boston Premier, Brass Attack, Detroit Breakdown and Roger Ceresi’s Allstarz, Sunday nights in Barrington have never been so fun!
