On which devices can I use GooglePay™?

You can use GooglePay with your Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled device running AndroidTM OS 4.4 (KitKat) or higher.

Can I use multiple BankNewport cards with GooglePay™?

Yes, you can use multiple cards with GooglePay. To ensure you’re using your BankNewport card for everyday use, be sure to set it as your default payment card in the GooglePay app. You can easily switch between cards whenever you make a purchase.

How do I add my BankNewport card to GooglePay™?

In the GooglePay™ app on your device, touch the + sign to add a credit or debit card to pay using your phone.

Position your card in the camera frame to automatically enter your card information. Enter the security code found on your card and provide additional information as required.

Accept the terms of service and set your screen lock. (Activating Device Administrator is part of the GooglePay setup process.)

If requested, follow any additional steps to verify your card.

How can I change my default card in GooglePay™?

Once you’re in the GooglePay™ app, you can set your default card as follows:

From the home screen, touch your BankNewport card and swipe up to move it to the default position.

From your BankNewport card details, tap the instructions to set a default card.

Or, from Google Settings, press your BankNewport card to change it to your default.

Why am I being asked to verify my BankNewport card?

For security reasons, we may need you to provide additional verification to add your BankNewport card to GooglePay™. If necessary, the GooglePay™ app will tell you how to verify your card. Once your information is verified, you will see an on-screen message that your card is ready for GooglePay™.

Does BankNewport charge anything to use GooglePay™?

No. BankNewport does not charge a fee for customers to use GooglePay™.

Where can I use GooglePay™?

You can use GooglePay™ with your NFC-enabled device running Android™ OS 4.4 (KitKat) or higher at over one million locations whose payment terminals are set up to accept GooglePay and in participating Android™ apps.

Do I need to be connected to the internet or a cellular network to make a payment?

No, but you will need to connect every so often to refresh the app. This will help ensure GooglePay™ is ready to pay when you are.

Is GooglePay™ safe and secure for making payments? How does BankNewport protect me against fraud?

The safety and security of your account information is of the highest importance.

As a security measure, you may receive a “verification required” message when adding your card to GooglePay™. Once verified, an on-screen message will appear stating that the card is ready for use. This verification is part of our multi-layered approach to security in payments.

Additionally, when we review mobile wallet providers we look for payment safety, quality of service, and ease of use for our customers. When you make payments with GooglePay™ and your BankNewport card:

Your full card number is not stored on your mobile device.
All transactions are monitored by BankNewport’s risk and fraud detection systems.

Purchases made using GooglePay™ are protected by Zero Liability, so you won’t be held responsible for promptly reported unauthorized transactions.

What should I do when I receive a replacement card because my card has expired?

You will need to remove the old card from Wallet and add your new card to GooglePay™.

What if my BankNewport card is lost or stolen?

Call BankNewport at 401.845.2265 or 877.709.2265 and we will cancel your debit or credit card immediately. To report a lost/stolen Visa® Debit Card after hours, select option 3. You can also deactivate a lost/stolen card online by logging into Digital Banking. Instant Issue replacement cards are available at all of our branch locations during our normal branch business hours. Replacement cards that are mailed are available in 7-10 business days or rush orders can be placed for a nominal fee. You should remove the card from Wallet. After you receive your new replacement debit or credit card, you’ll need to add your new card to GooglePay™.

What if my Android™ device is lost or stolen?

If your Android™ device is ever lost or stolen you can use Android™ Device Administrator to lock it remotely, create a new password, and wipe your personal information from it.

We also recommend notifying your mobile carrier and calling the BankNewport number on the back of your card promptly. Mention that you added your card to GooglePay™ so we can disable your card for use with GooglePay™. If you locate your device, you will need to add your card back to GooglePay™ before making any GooglePay™ purchases.
